Our story

About Live Fish Food by Post: founded in March 2024 by Louise Macchi.

Lou started working in the aquarium trade in the early 2000s, but has been a fishkeeping hobbyist since the early ’90s.

In 2013 Lou started Cornwall Aquarium Services, in 2018, Nathan, Darren and Lewis joined the team to help make Cornwall’s leading aquarium maintenance team. By the end of 2020, Lou expanded the business to open a bricks & mortar shop called Cornwall Aquatics.

Throughout the years one thing that I’ve noticed is how well fish do when they are fed on live foods. I also noticed that it seems to be difficult to get a fresh supply in specialised aquarium shops.

Because we have a new supply of fresh live food, almost every week of the year, people started to buy live food from Cornwall Aquatics from all over the UK.

This led to the decision to dedicate a new business solely based around supplying fresh fish food by post.

It’s all about fishkeeping!

Fishkeeping isn’t just a job for us, we keep tropical aquariums at home too. We love what we do and take pride in every aspect of our work.

About live phytoplankton

Where does live phytoplankton come from?

↑ Watch this video ↑ to learn about how to use live phytoplankton and about how Colombo produce it in Holland.

Reef keepers know that for colourful and heathy corals, they need to achieve excellent water quality and the right kind of lighting and flow. They also need food! Live phytoplankton is at the start of the ocean’s natural food chain, so corals will benefit hugely from using this regularly in your reef aquarium.
